Company overview
IIT Madras is home to Inbound Aerospace, an Indian space technology business that was established in 2025. The company specializes on creating reusable, autonomous re-entry vehicles that can move payloads and experiments between Earth and Low Earth Orbit (LEO). As the International Space Station (ISS) gets closer to its scheduled retirement in 2030, these spacecraft are intended to provide microgravity research, in-orbit technological demonstrations, and in-space manufacturing. In order to expedite the development and testing of its spacecraft technologies, Inbound Aerospace obtained more than $1 million in pre-seed funding from Speciale Invest and Piper Serica in July 2025. By late 2027 or early 2028, the business hopes to complete its first re-entry mission. With its microgravity-enabled platform, it intends to help industries like satellite technology, materials science, and healthcare.
